Wyc Grousbeck was born in Worcester and moved to the Boston area as an infant with his family. He graduated from Princeton University, where he rowed on an undefeated lightweight crew team that claimed a national championship. He is also a graduate of the University of Michigan Law School and Stanford Business School. He was a general partner of Highland Capital Partners, managing $1.8 billion in venture capital funds. I mention Worcester very often, and I am very proud of being born there. I only lived there briefly until my father changed jobs, but it has a real place in my heart. Just last month my parents and I drove by our old house on Forest Street to see it.

I bought the team with some great partners. I had the idea because I have been a lifelong Boston sports fan and I saw the chance to bring the Celtics back under local ownership for the first time since 1963.
