In 1997 he was one of the original members of the Propellor Theatre Company, which had been set up at the Watermill Theatre in Newbury, Berkshire, to perform Shakespearean plays as they were originally acted, with all-male casts, and he toured with them, on and off, over the next ten years, in different venues around the world.
