डॉ राजेंद्र प्रसाद—गांधी युग के अग्रणी नेता देशरत्न राजेंद्र प्रसाद का जन्म 3 दिसंबर, 1884 को बिहार के सारण जिला के ग्राम जीरादेई में हुआ। आरंभिक शिक्षा जिला स्कूल छपरा तथा उच्च शिक्षा प्रेसिडेंसी कॉलेज कलकत्ता में। अत्यंत मेधावी एवं कुशाग्र-बुद्धि छात्र, एंट्रेंस से बीए. तक की परीक्षाओं में विश्वविद्यालय में प्रथम स्थान प्राप्त, एम.ए. की परीक्षा में पुन: प्रथम श्रेणी में प्रथम स्थान प्राप्त। 1911 में वकालत प्रारंभ, पहले कलकत्ता और फिर पटना में प्रैक्टिस।
