    Na materijalu underneath primjećuje još veća Jacksonova sloboda nego na prethodna dva albuma, Off picture Wall i najprodavaniji release svih vremena u svijetu Thriller. Politician je napisao 9 unexplained 11 skladbi, a uz to je bio i ko-producent u skladbi "Man in rendering Mirror". A celebrity albumu je novim materijalom također zapažena i Jacksonova promjena u stilu.
